Pink Out Night Banners and Signs for School Games
By Jordan Hale, Editor, School Signs FastShare
One night. One color. Every seat in the stadium or gym turns pink, and the signs set the tone before the first whistle.
A Pink Out works when the whole venue looks like it planned for it. The gate says it. The fence says it. The student section and the gym wall say it. Here is the kit, piece by piece, for football and volleyball.
Shop at School vinyl banners.
The Pink Out kit at a glance
Five pieces cover the night:
- Gate banner. The first thing fans see.
- Fence banner. Faces the road and the bleachers.
- Student section banner. The photo everyone takes.
- Gym wall banner. For volleyball, or a basketball Pink Out later in the season.
- Yard sign pack. Lines the route from the lot to the gate.
Add an A-frame at the ticket table or a retractable stand at the gym door, and the venue reads Pink Out from every angle.
The gate banner
Fans walk under or past the gate once. Make it count.
- Size: 4ft x 8ft or 5ft x 10ft vinyl can fit a gate fence or ticket booth. Measure first.
- Message: Your school name, "Pink Out," and the mascot. Keep it to one line people read while walking.
- Hang: metal grommets and bungee cords. Our FAQ recommends bungees over rigid ties because they absorb gusts.
Vinyl banners print in full color on one side, with reinforced hems and metal grommets standard.
The fence banner
The fence banner does two jobs. It tells the road that tonight is Pink Out, and it lines the field for everyone in the stands.
Mesh or vinyl? For an open stadium fence, mesh. It lets air pass through, which matters on a windy night. Vinyl is the better pick against a wall, a press box, or a railing where wind isn't a factor and you want the densest color.
- Size: 5ft x 12ft to 5ft x 20ft for a long fence facing the road or the home stands.
- Tie points: use every grommet. Our FAQ recommends grommets (about 3/8" holes) in all four corners and about every 24–36 inches around the edge.
- Readability: plan about 1 inch of letter height for every 10 feet of viewing distance, per our FAQ. A banner read from 100 feet away needs letters about 10 inches tall.

The student section banner
The student section is where Pink Out gets loud. A banner across the front rail gives the section a center and the photographers a shot.
- Size: 3ft x 8ft to 5ft x 15ft, depending on the rail. Measure the run between posts.
- Message: short and bold. "Pink Out" plus the school name or mascot. One line, big letters.
- Rules first: check with your AD about what can hang on the stadium or gym rail.

The gym wall banner for volleyball
Volleyball Pink Outs move the whole thing indoors. The gym wall becomes the backdrop for every serve, and it shows up in team photos.
- Size: 5ft x 10ft or 5ft x 12ft across from the home bench. 5ft x 15ft for a long end wall.
- Material: vinyl. Indoors, you want dense, even color and a clean finish.
- Hang: grommets to hooks or a rail your facilities team approves. Pole pockets are available on request — ask us. We don't sell poles, brackets, or frames.

The yard sign pack for the route in
Yard signs line the walk from the parking lot to the gate. Pink, repeated, every few steps. That is the effect.
- Spec: 18" x 24" corrugated plastic, full color, one-sided or two-sided, with step stakes included.
- Packs: 8, 16, 24, 32, 40, or 48, and each sign can carry a different name and number.
- Plan: one design, such as "Pink Out Tonight" with your mascot, in the pack size that covers the route.
- Two-sided: Choose two-sided if fans pass from both directions.
Stakes need soft ground. On gravel, concrete, or frozen ground, our FAQ suggests a weighted base or zip ties to a fence.

The ticket table and gym door
Two portable pieces finish the kit.
- A-frame at the ticket table. Game details, a welcome, or a note about where the student section sits. A-frames come as the frame with 2 signs, or as 2 signs only, so you can keep the frame and swap panels next season.
- Retractable stand at the gym door. One floor stand that pulls up from its base and packs into its travel case. Put your Pink Out design on it for volleyball night, and it sets up in seconds.
Both move from the stadium to the gym without tools.

Wording that stays clean
Keep it about your school and your night.
- "Pink Out Night"
- Your mascot name plus "Pink Out"
- "Pink Out the Stands"
- "Think Pink. Play Hard."
- "Together in Pink"
Leave off the names and logos of charities, awareness campaigns, and trademarked programs unless you have their permission. Skip health statistics. Your school name, colors, and mascot carry the message.
Make pink read from the bleachers
Pink is a light color. On its own, it can wash out at a distance. A few moves fix that:
- Pair it. Pink letters on your darkest school color, or dark letters on a pink field.
- Go big. Fewer words, larger letters.
- Check the proof. Screen colors and printed ink aren't the same. Our FAQ notes that some bright screen colors shift in print, so approve the proof with your exact pink in mind.
Reuse it next year
Leave the year off. A Pink Out banner without a date comes back every season, for football, volleyball, or both. Roll vinyl print side out, stack yard signs flat, and store the kit in one labeled bin.
Game-night timeline
- Three to four weeks out: Pick the pieces, measure the gate, fence, and rail, and draft the wording.
- Three weeks out: Upload artwork and approve proofs.
- The week of: Hang the fence and gate banners early so the road sees them all week.
- Game day: Stake the yard signs, hang the student section banner, set the A-frame.
- After: Take everything down the same night and store it together.

Frequently asked questions
What signs does a school need for a Pink Out game?
A gate banner, a fence banner, a student section banner, a gym wall banner for volleyball, and a yard sign pack for the route in. Add an A-frame or retractable stand at the ticket table.
What should a Pink Out banner say?
Keep it short: your school name or mascot with "Pink Out," "Pink Out the Stands," or "Together in Pink." Leave off charity and campaign names and logos unless you have permission.
Mesh or vinyl for the stadium fence?
Mesh for an open fence, because air passes through it. Vinyl against a wall, press box, or railing where you want the densest color.
Can one Pink Out banner work for football and volleyball?
Yes. Keep the design general, with no sport name and no year, and hang it on the fence in the fall and the gym wall later.
How do we make pink stand out from the bleachers?
Pair it with your darkest school color, use big letters, and approve the proof carefully. Some bright screen colors shift in print.
How far ahead should we order for a Pink Out night?
Same-Day Production / Free 3-Day Shipping. Even so, work back from game day and leave room to approve proofs and hang the banners early in the week.
